Get Ready for Your First Splash
Your first day at SafeSplash Columbia Heights marks the start of an exciting journey. From what to bring to where to watch your swimmer, here’s everything you need to know to jump in with confidence.
Arriving at Your Lesson
Our Address
- Our school is hosted within the Washington Sports Club at 3100 14th Street, NW and we rent a portion of the pool from the gym. It is important that our swim families abide by the policies set by the WSC to be gracious guests and to keep the environment safe for everyone.
- When arriving to the WSC, please sign in at the SafeSplash check-in desk using the sign-in sheet. Your swimmer’s name will be on the roster, and there is a space for your signature.
- Please do not pass the front desk without signing in and make sure all members of your party are entering together. Then, proceed directly to the pool area.
- Unauthorized guests not arriving with their swimmer will not be permitted to go to the pool. This is for the safety and security of all members and guests at the WSC.
- We understand that some families may need extra help with changing before and after lessons. Families with two or more swimmers may have two adults joining them for lessons.
- To keep our pool deck as safe of an environment as possible, please abide by the WSC rules and limit guests to one adult per child only.
- Students enrolled in Parent Tot lessons may also have two adults (One adult in our viewing area and one adult joining the swimmer in the water) accompany them to lessons.
What to Bring
Towels
- Please provide your own towel(s). The WSC does not provide towels for our swimmers.
- Children who are not fully toilet trained must wear two layers of diapers—a disposable swim diaper under a reusable swim diaper.
- Washington Sports Club does not allow food or beverages on the pool deck except for water only.
- A light snack is advised no less than 20 minutes before your swimmers’ lesson to give them adequate time to digest.
- Limit snacks before lessons and avoid dairy products within two hours of your lesson. Any accident in the pool will require us to cancel lessons.
