Meet the Saf-T-Swim Coram Team

Sheona G., Director of Operations

I have been a part of the Aquatics and Sports industry for 24 years. My very first job was as a lifeguard and swimming instructor; so, for me it is full circle and rewarding to be able to recruit, hire, and train professionals in the field. I served as an Aquatics Manager for 8 years for the Department of Parks and Recreation in Jacksonville, Florida where I helped develop the Gus and Goldie Learn to Swim Program. Recently I was the Assistant Company Director for Gateway Sports and Pools where I lead sales and operations in NYC, Albany, and CT. As an Adjunct Professor at Lehman College I lectured in Exercise Science, Motor Learning, and the Behavioral Aspects of Physical Activity. I am also a published research author with a research focus in utilizing sports and physical activity as a vehicle to promote life development during adolescence. I strongly believe there are so many life lessons children can learn during sports participation. I received my MA in Motor Learning from Columbia University, and my BS from Lehman College in Movement and Exercise Science. I am a sports enthusiast having played basketball, soccer, and track and field collegiately. Currently I participate in swimming, volleyball, and golf recreationally; and I am a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu blue belt.

I have worked for Saf-T-Swim for 19 years and have been part of the management team for 12. My favorite parts of my job are getting to see my students grow both as people and swimmers and seeing my staff grow in confidence and in life. I have 2 children who are 6 and 7 and am having a blast living life with them. I love to go to the beach and I love to read.

I have worked in aquatics for over 10 years and am excited to be a part of the Saf-T-Swim family to continue growing and providing a friendly and inviting environment for kids of all ages to learn how to swim and about water safety.

Kim, Supervisor

I have been married for 21 years and have 3 kids. I have a daughter who’s 16 and twin boys, 14 years old. I spend my spare time with my family. I love Disney, hikes, and going to the beach. I also enjoy watching any reality TV shows when I have time.

I’m one of the lifeguards here at Coram Saf-T-Swim. I make sure everyone is being safe in and out of the water! When I’m not guarding I like to workout, listen to music, draw, read, and spend time with my friends (as well as my dogs)!

I like to read, draw, swim and play games in my free time, though I mainly like playing and swimming. Swimming is one of my favorite things ever, and I’ve been doing it since I was 3, which is why I love this job!

My name is Maria, I am 22 years old. I have been working at Saf-T-Swim for almost two years now. I love meeting new kids and watching their love for the water grow. I am also a full time student, working on my degree in business management. On my free time, I enjoy shopping and hanging out with friends and family.

Hi, my name is Robert, and I am a senior in high school. I'm dedicated to learning to be an amazing role model as a Boy Scout and with my team in bowling for my school's varsity team. In my free time, I love listening to music while making amazing art. :)

I grew up here. My mom took me to swim lessons starting at 2 years old, and I swam up until I aged out of the swim team. I have a good time with all my co-workers and enjoy coming to work to keep the kids safe. It is a fun atmosphere. I am going to Stony Brook College and work out a lot in my free time and hang out with friends doing beach volleyball!

I like working here because I get to build long-lasting relationships with my students. I love watching them ring the bell and move through the levels! I do karate and longboard. I also enjoy video games and knitting!

I enjoy working at safety swim because it is a healthy/supportive environment to work in! Everyone that works at safety swim is always supportive to everyone no matter what! I love working with kids and teaching kids how to swim safely in the water. It is always a pleasure to work at safety swim and to teach kids how to understand water safety and swim safely when being in the water!

Hi! My name is Emma H, I’m 17 and have been working at Saf-t-Swim for about 2 months now and I absolutely love it. Aside from work, I play for MC girls lacrosse and am involved in my schools music department. I love to bake and go see plays and musicals. After Highschool I am set to play Division 2 lacrosse in Delaware and I hope to begin a career helping kids. I've worked with kids my whole life from volunteering at camps to now. Can't wait to get to know everyone!
