Did you know that drowning is the number one cause of death for children ages 1–4 in the U.S. and remains a leading cause of death for older children and adults? Or that over half (55%) of U.S. adults have never taken a swim lesson? Swim lessons have been shown to reduce the risk of drowning by 88%, giving parents a greater peace of mind and helping children become safer in and around all kinds of water. That’s why we’ve partnered with the National Drowning Prevention Alliance (NDPA), a leading organization dedicated to preventing drowning through education, advocacy, and innovation. Together, we’re working to expand water safety awareness and reduce drowning, one swim lesson at a time.

Our 3 kids have enjoyed every minute of their swim lessons. There is always welcoming staff at the front desk, there is a large kids section to color and play in while you wait for class to start, the pool is always warm so the kids can actually focus on learning to swim instead of freezing, and the changing rooms are nice and big with hair dryers, clothes dryers, and bathrooms for after. We highly recommend here for your kids’ to learn water safety!

I never took proper swim lessons and in all honesty I have a fear of the water if my feet aren't touching the ground. They have adult classes, the class I am in is small which is great as my instructor is able to sort of tailor teaching based on where each person is. My instructor is understanding and not pushy at all which I love! I'm only a few weeks in but have been really happy with my experience so far and would recommend to anyone who wants to perhaps learn to swim for the first time or someone who wants improve their skills.

What to Bring

A swimsuit and towel are all you need for a great swim lesson! For baby swimmers, be sure to pack a reusable swim diaper. Some swimmers also choose to bring goggles and a swim cap for extra comfort.

You won’t need to bring hair dryers—our large changing areas and post-lesson amenities have you covered. And if you forget something, we’ve got swimsuits, goggles, towels, and more available for purchase.

Parents receive regular updates through our Splash-N-Tell sessions, where your swimmer can show off their skills. Drowning remains the leading cause of injury-related death for children ages 1–4, and yet, it’s one of the most preventable tragedies. Swim lessons alone can reduce the risk of drowning by up to 88%, making them a critical tool for every family. Beyond that, developing strong swimming techniques can empower swimmers of all ages to navigate water safely and confidently.

Welcome to SafeSplash + SwimLabs Louisville! My husband and I were looking into opening a SwimLabs to compliment my swim team; To help enhance the competitive side of our sport. I also wanted an opportunity to teach learn to swim to the beginners. Once we learned there was interest of combining a SwimLabs with a SafeSplash Swim School, we were in love! Having a small, warm water pool AND the endless pools allows us the ability to combine every level of swimming under one roof.
My greatest joy is working with the children. From their first bubbles, to floating, to jumping in and swimming back to the wall…I celebrate every big water moment with them. The day I know they are safer in the water, is a great day at the office for me.

How long will it take my child to learn to swim?

It’s a question every parent faces as they strive to ensure their child is equipped for safety in and around the water. Which is why we’ve created the S.A.F.E.R. Swimmer Promise, a commitment to ensure your child learns critical self-rescue skills. We’ll teach them the skills needed to pass our water safety test in one year or less, or we’ll provide up to 2 months of free lessons to help them succeed.

Our proven curriculum teaches 10 essential swim skills designed to make every swimmer safer in the water. Your child will successfully perform these essential self-rescue and safety skills in 12 months or less – or we'll give you up to 2 months of free lessons to help them succeed.

Swimmers aged 4 and up in Beginner 2-4 are ready for the S.A.F.E.R. Swimmer curriculum, where they’ll master self-rescue and water safety skills.
Our water safety test is designed to assess each swimmers ability to perform essential skills for self-rescue and safety. If they don’t pass within one year of consistent attendance, they’ll receive up to 2 months of free lessons to help them succeed.
Practice makes progress, so weekly attendance is required, with no more than 4 missed lessons to keep the promise intact (facility closures not included).

For children ages 4+ in Beginner 2–4 group classes at participating locations. If a swimmer doesn’t pass the S.A.F.E.R. Swimmer Test within one year of consistent weekly attendance (no more than 4 absences), they’ll receive up to 2 months of free lessons or until they pass, whichever comes first. Make-up lessons must be completed within 2 weeks of an absence to stay eligible.
